Hedy Lamarr: Not Just a Pretty Face

     Thesis Statement:

Hedy Lamarr, an erudite mind in the body of a Hollywood actress, dove into an untouched technological frontier with her origination of frequency hopping during WWII. Eventually, this developed into key modern technologies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Despite her key role in forging this new frontier, her contributions were minimized for decades due to her quintessential Hollywood image. Finally, after many prolonged years of discreditation, she was given the acknowledgment she solely deserved.

"When I first met Hedy Lamarr, about twenty years ago, she was so beautiful that everybody would stop talking when she came into a room. I don't think anyone concerned himself very much about whether or not there was anything behind her beauty; he was too busy gaping at her. Of her conversation I can remember nothing: when she spoke one did not listen, one just watched her mouth moving and marveled at the exquisite shapes made by her lips."

— George Sanders

"Any girl can be glamorous. All you have to do is stand still and look stupid." - Hedy Lamarr
