Nurture

                                         Nurture

Nurture is the belief that human behavior is caused by the environment or experiences. Some environmental things that could influence your behavior are prenatal nutrition, education, peer pressure, parental role models, television, diet, and stress. There are some scientific studies that prove that nurture can affect genes and your behavior.

For example, there was a mouse study in 2003, where they took pregnant Yellow Agouti mice, and fed half of them vitamins. The other half was the control group. The group of mice who had gone on a diet gave birth to thin, brown mouse pups, in contrast to the fat, yellow mice that the control group gave birth to. While the baby mice were forming, the gene that makes them fat and yellow, as well as more commonly getting diabetes, was shut off due to the diet. That proves that nurture can start to express itself through nature. Nurture is reinforcing nature, not opposing it. Culture will often reflect human nature rather than affect it.
