Chernobyl: Communication Meltdown

THE EXPLOSION

Several factors contributed to the explosion on April 26th, 1986.  A routine test went wrong due to poor planning and inexperience. Some engineers resisted continuing the test, but plant leaders pushed forward.  Inexperience, combined with the lack of understanding of the reactor’s intrinsic issues, proved a fatal mistake.
