June 4, 1942. The codebreakers were right; Target AF was Midway Atoll. The U.S. carrier fleet came in from the northeast but were presented with a barrier; the Japanese Kido Butai carrier fleet was much larger. Nevertheless, they had the element of surprise on their side.
