Who were the Scottsboro Boys?


On that fateful day, a cohort of nine young gentlemen embarked upon the train voyage. Noteworthy among them was the venerable Charlie Weems, a young man of 19 years , on his way to reunite with his family in Tennessee. Conversely, at the young age of 12 adorned the persona of Rory Wright, accompanied by his older sibling Andy, age 19, both venturing on a journey beyond the family looking for a change. The ensemble further comprised Olen Montgomery, Clarence Norris, Haywood Patterson, Ozie Powell, Willie Roberson, Eugene Williams, and the aforementioned Andy Wright, spanning the spectrum of ages from 12 to 19. These youths, bearing the weight of adversity in their histories, sought the promise of an improved existence during their train odyssey.
