The Kindertransport

The Kindertransport was a rescue effort that carried over 10,000 orphaned Jewish children from Germany and Austria to Britain, beginning in December 1938 and lasting until August 1939 as a reaction to the terrors of Kristallnacht. As a response to the uproar from British citizens, Britain changed their strict immigration policies to let the children in, which led to reform. This rescue effort succeeded in saving the lives of refugee children and was a form of resistance against antisemitism. The Kindertransport showed the value of immigration, which still resonates today.
