"Difficulties are just things to overcome, after all."
~ Ernest Shackleton

The Endurance was found well preserved under water in the Weddell Sea in March 2022 during the Endurance 22 mission, led by Dr. John Shears.

Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance mission was a frontier in two ways. Shackleton had been on many expeditions, working his way to the South Pole under others’ leaderships. He had nearly reached his goal before his team had to turn back after scurvy struck. To Shacketon’s dismay, Amundsen reached the South Pole before he could, sparking his goal to cross the entire Antarctic continent. Although he did not accomplish this goal, it would have been a physical frontier if he did. Even though it didn’t quite reach that frontier, it was a human frontier. He rescued his crew from a sticky situation. With current technology, sending out a search helicopter or plane to find them would be easy. Even then, by the time aid arrived, it was possible that there would have been a casualty. Shackleton, even without the assistance of air vehicles, managed to get the help of a ship by making a perilous journey that had a high risk for him and his crew.
