Transatlantic Cable

This is the story of how a man with a dream connected two countries together

This map shows America and Britain connected by the Transatlantic Cable, artist unknown, A Thread Across the Ocean

The Transatlantic cable connected America to England in 1858, and allowed the two countries to communicate smoothly by sending telegrams. Since this cable could almost instantly send telegraphs, many problems were solved including aiding America’s expansion and boosting the economy.

"We are bringing America closer to Europe by attempting this." - Bishop Bullock, Cable Ship Engineer
