During the 1920s, there was a sudden rise in Christian Conservative extremism. This was due to the Roaring ’20s. Conservatives found that the new ideas would clash with their current beliefs. These new ideas included women wearing pants, jazz music, and the new city culture that was arising. Once they had heard of teachers around the country teaching evolution, they were outraged. In response to the attack on their views, they launched a massive campaign to keep their fundamentalist ideas alive. All over the country they tried and succeeded in some states, to ban evolution from being taught.
