The Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of the worlds."

- J. Robert Oppenheimer

Thesis

The Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were one of the most horrific moments in  modern history. The bombings revolutionized history, not only for the Americans and Japanese, but for the entire world. On August 6th and 9th, 1945, the Enola Gay and Bockscar, an American Boeing B-29 bomber, dropped a uranium bomb on the two Japanese cities. About 70,000 people were killed immediately and eventually more than 140,000 people died from nuclear fallout. The reaction caused long term PTSD and trauma. Because of this, the people of Japan, and countries around the world, reformed their nuclear policy.
