Background

Elmer Mc Curdy was born in the state of Maine in 1800 (“History Simple”). As a little boy, Elmer’s father was abusive and Elmer worked as a plumber but turned to drinking at an early age. He was arrested at age 27. This was the first time Elmer had been in trouble with the police (“History Simple”). But Elmer went to the U.S. army where he served three years and then he turned his entire life to crime (“History Simple”). His most outrageous crime was when he blew up a safe on a train; the newspaper later called it “The smallest train robbery in history”(“The Guthrie Daily Leader’’). He later robbed a train that was more expensive, but died in a shootout with police (“ History Simple”) For Elmer, death was only the beginning.
