 Influence

McCurdy influenced the future of entertainment and the value of including shock to it. One of the creators of He-Man, a tv show from 1983, was walking at the Laugh in the Dark theme park and they dropped down the prop of Elmer and scared him so much that he made the character of Skeletor (“The Bandit That Never Gave Up”). Elmer also influenced future mummies. “Spaghetti” was the mummy who was featured in the Italian circus (“The Bandit That Never Gave Up”). Another mummy was “Speedy,” an African fisherman who died and his corpse was shown for entertainment purposes (“The Bandit That Never Gave Up”). Elmer McCurdy influenced other people to start taking care of mummies and how they were treated. There was more respect given to the body of the deceased.
