ELI WHITNEY AND THE COTTON GIN

THESIS

In the late 18th century, Eli Whitney invented the Cotton Gin, which allowed for faster cotton processing. In turn, southern plantation owners began to plant more fields resulting in the need for more slaves. This turning point in cotton production would spark the American Civil War, as one of the first machines to speed up the production of the biggest industry in America at the time.
