Standing Up

Wikipedia 2014; Bruce Roberts a Sit-in-Movement photographer.

People during the sit-ins communicated injustices found all over America. These men and women showed the world you have to fight for what you believe in and they did everything in their power to make the world as equal as possible. When you are truly passionate about something you will find a way to make it happen. These black men and women who protested against racism knew what they were doing was dangerous but they didn’t care. Actions speak louder than words, and they knew this was their only option.

"Remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach to the stars to change the world" ~Harriet Tubman

This strong generation of people knew that they were paving the pathway for the people behind them. They were right according to the New York Times. About 15 to 26 million participated in the black lives matter protests in 2020. That makes it the biggest protest ever. The Greensboro Sit-in Movement helped communicate these protests to make the movements what they are today.

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, then you have chosen the side of the opressor."  ~Desmond Tutu
