Thesis:

The Smokey Bear public service advertising campaign successfully communicated to the American public that people have the power to prevent forest fires, which would promote greater eco-consciousness, but actually harm forest ecosystems and accelerate the effects of climate change in the long term by creating the idea that fires are inherently negative.
