I chose my topic because I wanted to know more about Ada Lovelace’s life and what she did that was so important to history. Ada Lovelace is related to the annual theme because with her notes and wits she became the first computer programmer by figuring out that machines could have the power to use other things than numbers.

I conducted my research by using websites such as secondary sources and primary sources with one primary video.

I created my project by using NHD website editor: ndh.org/nhdwebcentral.

My historical argument or thesis is that Ada Lovelace is a mathematician who was interested in Charles Babbage's work, Charles Babbage is a mathematician and also an inventor. In 1833, When they met Charles Babbage was still developing his second machine the Analytical Engine, Ada Lovelace helped work on the machine and with her notes that she wrote with a translation of an article from another engineer inventor. The notes helped the making of the Analytical Engine progress more but was never exactly finished at the end. Although Ada Lovelace didn’t do much in the making of the Analytical Engine she however was the first to discover about programming systems in an order using things other than numbers and with her notes and papers she thought of the future of machines becoming the founder of programming, also using her name as the programming language.

My topic is significant to history because Ada Lovelace was the first person to find out that machines, digital computers or machines that were somewhat like digital computers could use other things than numbers with a list of rules.
