Years later after the experiment, Elliott also went on to do the project many more times, including all ages, teenagers, adults, and still teaching kids.

Elliott isn’t teaching anymore, but she is still making a difference with interviews and speaking at events. She has been a guest lecturer at numerous colleges and universities and has been a guest on a wide variety of television shows including The Today Show, Tonight with Johnny Carson, Donahue, and the Oprah Winfrey show.

According to Frontline as of 2003, about 20% of the people in Riceville, Iowa, were still furious about what Jane did to her students. During the mid-1960s as well, the Civil Rights movement was at its peak, so there were many different protests before and after.

She even won the National Mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education. One of her famous quotes from the Oprah Winfrey show when she was arguing with someone is, “We don’t need a melting pot in this country, folks. We need a salad bowl. In a salad bowl, you put in different things. You want the vegetables, the lettuce, the cucumbers, the onions, and the green peppers to maintain their identity. You appreciate differences.” - Jane Elliott
