The Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972:
The Right to Live Undisturbed
and Our Responsibility to Protect Marine Mammals

Thesis

Various species of marine mammals were nearly pushed to extinction due to human activity. In 1972, the landmark bipartisan Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) set new standards to ensure that marine mammals have their right to live uninterrupted and also showed the collective responsibility of Americans to protect the marine mammals around them.
