The bill, which is S. 392, caused an almost immediate impact when it was signed and sent people's opinions two separate ways. The pictures amazed most Americans when the images appeared in the newspaper, but the passing of that bill didn't please all (Peabody 126). Those that were living in the park, such as Squatters and Native Americans, refused to leave the area when instructed by the government (Peabody 126). The explorers from the Hayden Expedition would eventually gather some volunteers to evict everyone out after the government requested them to do so as the construction of visitor areas was being delayed (Henry 124). Yellowstone was able to stay more natural because of the government's efforts to evict squatters and indian tribes, and not allowing any new settlements (Henry 124).
