1829- Ferdinand Vandeveer Hayden was born and would later become the person responsible for the protection of Yellowstone (Henry 117).
1860's- The Raynolds Expedition explores Yellowstone (Henry 117).
March of 1871- The government hires Hayden to gather a team of explorers to go into Yellowstone and gather evidence that the park should be protected (Henry 117).
July of 1871- The Hayden Expedition begins its journey into Yellowstone (Henry 117).
Winter of 1872- Hayden sends a letter to the government with the evidence after the team arrives home (Henry 120).
Friday, March 1st, 1872- President Ulysses S. Grant signed the bill that protects Yellowstone National Park making it the world's first national park (Henry 124).
Spring of 1872- Yellowstone makes the national spotlight after the images were released in the newspapers (Henry 124).
Late Spring to Early Summer of 1872- Native Americans, squatters, and big companies fought for the land after the government tried to evict them (Henry 124).
Mid to Late Summer of 1872- The Hayden Expedition uses brute force to evict the troublemakers (Henry 124).
August 20th, 1886- The U.S. Army is asked to patrol the grounds of Yellowstone ("Birth of a National Park").
1886 to 1918- The U.S. Army takes control of Yellowstone ("Birth of a National Park").
1916- The National Parks Service was created to fill in the role of the U.S. Army ("Birth of a National Park").
Summer of 1988- Yellowstone experienced a large series of bushfires (Henry 219).
August 20th, 1988- A bushfire known as "Black Saturday", destroyed over 150,000 acres of land in the park (Hansen).
Early 1990's- Yellowstone's wolves went extinct from the park which led The National Parks Service to capture fourteen wolves from Canada to repopulate the park (Henry 227).
March 1st, 2022- Yellowstone National Park celebrates 150 years since the creation and signing of the bill (150 Years).
