High Renaissances

Lastly, we are introduced to the "High Renaissance" period before the era ends. From the year 1490 to 1527, artists such as Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donato became extremely famous due to their painting and sculptures. Because these artists rose to fame, their realistic styles became more popular. These features were seen in famous paintings such as the Mona Lisa by Da Vinci or in the sculpture David by Michelangelo.

When looking at these two paintings, you can see more detail in a persons face or their body and clothing. This is because they gained their inspiration from actual people. While it's said that David was based off of Hercules, it was seen to be impressively realistic since they took known features to create a new one. In Mona Lisa we see a closely detailed woman since she was based off of a model named, Lisa Del Giocondo. So based on these new advancements, it allowed more realism in their art since they had a human features in front of them rather than from books or written sources. Not only where they introduced to realism, but Da Vinci began to use the style, Sfumato, which induced the use of toning and blending which then introduced ceiling paintings. Because of the introduction of these new features, it gave artists more chances to begin to enter all types of beauty into their paintings.
