Conclusion
The years 1945 through 1949 were important in world history because of the Nuremberg Trials. These trials helped influence international criminal law and gave somewhat justice to the people committing atrocities during the holocaust. The word “somewhat” is very important in the last sentence because the Nuremberg Trials had only 207 defendants put on trial. Even out of those defendants some were acquitted. The rest were “not found”. There were some cases where they went into hiding and they were found. Nazi Hunters continue trying to find more Nazis responsible for the genocide in the 21st century. They found about a dozen of them. For example, 94-year-old Friedrich Karl Berger, was ordered by a fedral judge to return to Germany, where he remains a citizen and where he had served as a guard in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. After the Nuremberg Trials, Germany has found 50 SS guards of the 6,000 to 7,000 who have served at Auschwitz. Unfortunatley, there are still many war criminals out there that we continue to search for.
