(The Long Road to the People Power Revolution)

After decades under the authoritarian leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos, political opponents, defecting military, clergy and ordinary civilians protested together against his regime through a nonviolent uprising known as the 1986 People Power Revolution, a movement that ended the dictatorship and resulted in constitutional reform, but ultimately failed to make substantial changes due to lingering government instability and corruption.
