MKUltra was quite a horrible event in the way that people were mercilessly experimented on like guinea pigs. The experiments involved LSD, Electroshock Therapy and Sensory deprivation.
An especially unpleasant drug combination they used was a speedball, a mixture of a stimulant in one arm, and a depressant in the other ( usually cocaine and heroin). The depressant slows down the heart, while the stimulant tries to speed it up resulting in strokes, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, so by taking the deadly combination even once, a person can have permanent physical and mental health problems.
Another misused treatment was Electroshock Therapy, which can cause serious cognitive issues, along with temporary physical setbacks. The sheer amount of time, and strength they were using the ECT machine (electroconclusive therapy) at, completely surpassed any normal electroshock therapy, making the experiments even more dangerous.
Sensory Deprivation was used mostly with psychic driving( repeating a positive or negative phrase over and over with no other sounds). The test subjects could spend weeks in sensory deprivation hearing first negative, then positive words hundreds of thousands of times. The purpose of psychic driving was to "depattern" ( brainwashing/ breaking down normal behavior and patterns) the human brain.
