Spouse: Elizabeth Griswold (1848-1872), and Lucretia Walker (1818-1825)
•Education: Royal Academy of the Arts, Yale College, Phillips Academy - Andover
•Began working on the telegraph – 1832.
•Patterned a telegraph mechanism on June 20, 1840.
•Used experimentation based upon trial and error.
