Anesthesia: The First Drop

The Big Change

After the invention of anesthesia, many more surgeons and dentists started to practice anesthesia and learn to administer it to patients. Anesthesia became more commonly known, and almost fully eliminated pain for its patients. Many people started to use anesthesia for any surgery with harsh pain included. Anesthesia used to be administered with no way of sensing when the patient is about to wake up. Now anesthesiologists use electrode monitors and know the patient is waking up when the electrode shows slow waves. In 1847 Professor James Y. Simpson started to give women chloroform during childbirth as a way to ease the pain. Overall the invention of anesthesia changed surgeries forever. Today in modern life, anesthesia lets us make patients unconscious while undergoing surgery and helps us put them to sleep faster.

The Global Anesthesia Monitoring Device helps to tell doctors the patients' heart rate and explain the patient's response to the anesthetics during the procedure. Since the invention of anesthesia, the growth of the device use has been skyrocketing. In this past year, the amount of devices used has improved by 200% since 2022.
