How the Rabbits of Ravensbrück Were Able to Expose Their Story

Although many secrets of the atrocities conducted inside the concentration camp were never exposed during the Holocaust, four ingenious women were able to share the horrors of torture, forced labor, and the medical experiments conducted within the camp. The women were able to communicate back to their families through writing in urine within the margins and inside the envelopes of monthly letters regarding the extent to which they faced this abuse. With the publicization of this information, these women were able to testify at the Nurembourg trials and individuals such as Caroline Ferriday and Martha Hall Kelly helped raise awareness for their story.
