Allen Dulles Quote to President Kennedy (Evidence 3):

“Mr. President, I stood right here at Ike’s desk and told him I was certain that our Guatemalan operation would succeed, and Mr. President, the prospect for this plan are even better than they were for that one.”

This is a quote by Allen Dulles himself in which he tells the newly instated president Kennedy about the Bay of Pigs plan which he thinks is better than the Guatemala one. Of course this is very ironic as this plan fails and the Guatemala one was very successful. He also says that he told Eisenhower those exact things. This is a very disturbing quote as well because he is speaking so lightly about these coups which destroy countries and claim thousands of lives. He speaks as if he doesn’t realize that these coups are claiming the lives of so many people. Keep in mind this is the head of the CIA who is in charge of the safety and protection of our country and, like every American official, is supposed to promote freedom. These coups aren’t necessary for his job because the people of America will stay happy without Guatemalan bananas. We can infer that the only reasoning behind these coups is because the governments are supposedly communist which doesn’t even make sense considering that there were other communist countries and many more countries where people didn’t have human rights. Jacobo Arbenz was not a communist but people like Allen Dulles helped to spread the propaganda that he was. Eisenhower was likely bribed by United Fruit to go through the coup d'etat in order to liberate Guatemala from a democratic government to an American controlled democratic government, not really liberating the country. Now with Kennedy as president Allen Dulles is trying to convince him to side with big business which in this scenario was the sugar companies. At this time the United States had a choice to declare communism evil or to declare all dictatorships evil. The CIA and many others sway the country's view to just being that communism is evil. This is strange to do as during this time people couldn’t even tell who was or wasn’t a communist. This is why big business helped declare communism evil so that they could declare a rebelling country communism and the government wouldn’t even know if they were telling the truth but would trust them anyway because they did not suspect them to lie.
