Shuffle Along was written by Flournoy Miller and Aubrey Lyle, with music and lyrics written by Noble Sissle and Eubie Blake. The met in Philadelphia in 1920.

Eubie Blake was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1887 and became one of the most prominent Jazz musicians of all time.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

​​​​​​​Shuffle Along featured fast-paced dance scenes which capitvated audiences.
