THESIS STATEMENT: Most prominent in the 20th century, yellow journalism was sensationalized and exhaggerated journalism, presented to the readers of papers with the intention of attracting them for economic gain. The manipulative tactics used by yellow journalists had great influence over individuals, which influenced greater events, the most recognized being the Spanish-American War. Due to the convincing arguments writers delivered using yellow journalism, the expansion of it was the catalyst for the start of war between America and Spain. Yellow journalism is still prominent in society today, but is now known as the terms "fake news" and "clickbait".
