On June 28, 1969, Stonewall Inn, a bar known for its support of its homosexual patrons, was raided by police due to a lack of a license to sell alcohol. A chaotic scene ensued, leading to six nights of terror and violence for New York City’s homosexual community. This was a major turning point in the decades-long fight for LGBTQ+ rights. The Stonewall Riots became an enduring  legacy in the struggle for equality - culminating in June becoming “Pride Month.”
