D-Day

Normandy, France | June 6, 1944

During the planning of the Allied invasion of France, the United States and Great Britain had their debates. Although, each country was committed to diplomacy because the need for an invasion was imminent. Operation Overlord was eventually executed, and despite the number of casualties, the invasion was a success. D-Day was a turning point in World War Two and helped bring an end to the Nazis.

“The word D-Day indicates the day of the landing, but to the men of the 6th Beach Battalion, it meant at least three twenty-four hour days which become one long day.”
