The Trieste II

The dive into Challenger Deep opened up a whole new path for others to follow. The learnings from the Trieste was used by the Navy to build other bathyscaphes that were used for submarine rescues, the first of which, the Trieste II was used to recover the USS Scorpion.

The Deepsea Challenger, the next rover to dive into Challenger Deep

It took more than 50 years for explorers to revisit Challenger Deep. In 2012, the Deepsea Challenger revisited Challenger Deep in the Eastern Pool. The Limiting Factor followed in 2019.

Not only did the Trieste leave a technological and a scientific impact, but it also demonstrated that with sound science courage, humanity can keep opening new frontiers.
