Cryptology During WW2 and it's Affect on Technology in the Future
What is cryptology?
Cryptology (including cryptography and cryptoanalysis) is a form of mathematics used to protect information from enemies or unintended users. It's the practice and the study of secure codes, the exchange of data and signals, and a secure form of communication. It's also a form of computer science and consists of algorithm, input and output. Most codes are nearly impossible to decipher or break unless authorized by the intended user. It allows only specific people to access and process information.
Why was cryptology so necessary during WWI and WWII?
Communication is one of the most important aspects of war, and many nations were involved in WWI and WWII. The tranfer of secret messages, locations and information was important to the outcome of the war. The study and creation of new cipher machines, codes, and developments throughout the war were important to the history of technology and communication in wars. Not only this, but cryptology is still widely used now in technology and computer science and still has an essential role to how the world works.
Thesis Statement: Cryptology was an important aspect in the developments of technology and has led to many advancements and achievement in not only U.S. history but world history as well. Cryptography is significant because of it's importance during WWI and WWII, and while it was mostly used for these wars, it had a greater impact on our technology today.
