Preceding the invention of chemotherapy, radical methods would be performed as attempts to alleviate the effects of cancer, however, these endeavors would result in high mortality rates. Chemotherapy broke the barrier of the lack of effective cancer treatments by producing innovative research that pioneered new treatments, thus decreasing mortality rates.
