Steamships influenced many things like the development of ocean liners, ship development, and commercial vessels. Steamships helped facilitate trading as a result of their speed and versatility. These new vehicles broke barriers in speed and maneuverablity.

 One of the most successful things that came out of the development of steamships, was an increase in the Industrial Revolution's new technology which kept breaking barriers. With this new method of travel, steamships allowed for better cargo and human transport which in turn created new jobs and possibilities that were never available before.

Steamships greatly influenced ironclads as well. Before the creation of steamships, ironclads were impossible to make, because nothing would power a vessel as heavy as an ironclad. However, due to the introduction of steam power, builders were able to power ironclads at high speeds.
