Bhagat Singh Thind, a World War I veteran, faced unjust denial of U.S. citizenship because he was not considered a "white man." The verdict of his case changed the course for many other South Asians who were once considered citizens. Despite the Constitution's promise and responsibility to protect the rights of all, their language was shaped to further their own interests, revealing one irrefutable truth: immigrants did not - could not - have rights or independence. The members of the Ghadar Party, though subjected to these acts of discrimination, rose to the challenge with courage and determination. Their fire proved that even in the face of systemic oppression of rights, only resilience can carve a path to change.
