The sinking of the RMS Titanic in the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912, and its loss of around 1,500 lives, resulted from a radio miscommunication between ships and many failures of communication onboard the vessel. The key to understanding the sinking of Titanic was that, although it was tragic, it led to dramatic improvements in maritime communication that have prevented a repeat of history.
