The US provided annual military aid, Egypt receiving $1.3 billion and Israel receiving $3 billion. The two countries started trading, helping economies grow. Political Impact

An Arab nation recognized Israel. The Likud party, an Israeli right-wing political party, gained favor. In Egypt, hatred among Jihadist-sympathizing groups led to Sadat's assassination in 1981. Politicians opposed diplomatic relations with Israel. In the US and Europe, Carter gained political esteem, but lost support from Arab-Americans. The PLO cut relations with Egypt. The USSR supported the PLO. This worsened relations with Egypt, but strengthened them with other Arab nations.
