Chuck Yeager: The First Man to Break the Sound Barrier

As of February 13th of 2020 Charles E. ‘Chuck’ Yeager will be 97 years old due to him being born on February 13th of 1923 in Myra, West Virginia. The first mission of his career in the Air forces was "in early 1943. After a brief assignment stateside, he transferred to England and began working with the 363rd Fighter Squadron. In early 1944, on his seventh mission, Yeager shot down his first enemy plane" (Onkst, David H, Biography of Chuck Yeager). "In February 1975, shortly after completing his final active duty flight, he retired from the Air Force" (​​​​​​​Chuck Yeager Biography). According to EarthSky, "he currently lives in California" as of February 13th 2017.
