In the early 1900s, legal and social inequalities escalated racial tension across the U.S., triggering over 27 race riots in the summer of 1919. This became known as the Red Summer, a turning point in racial violence, influencing the Great Migration, The Civil Rights Movement, and racial discrimination in housing which is still prevalent in cities today.
