(“The Story of Cesar Chavez”)

the influence of Cesar Chavez is that he was able to win the recognition of farm worker rights. In September of 1965 the NFWA announced the second strike against the California grape growers (“Cesar Chavez.”). The strike lasted five years and turned into a worldwide boycott of California grapes (“Cesar Chavez.”). The boycott had massive support from Senator Robert Kennedy(“Cesar Chavez”). In 1966, Cesar Chavez took to a 266 march with members of the union and supporters of the union from Delano to Sacramento (“Cesar Chavez”). Chavez started his first fast in 1968 that would last 25 days to stop the violence against strikers (“Cesar Chavez”). Cesar said this when asked about the fasting, “I am convinced that the truest act of courage, the strongest act of manliness, is to sacrifice ourselves for others in a totally non-violent struggle for justice”.  The boycott would end in 1970 with the farm workers and the major grape growers came to an agreement That would increase the farm workers' pay and give them rights to unionize (“Cesar Chavez”).
