The Hurricane
The Galveston hurricane was first detected on August 27th, 1900.
After that, the hurricane passed over Cuba on September 3, 1900
as a tropical storm. The hurricane was traveling in a Northeastern
direction and many people expected the hurricane to continue in
that direction. To the suprise of many people ,though, the hurricane
turned directions and went in a collision to course toward the Galveston
Bay. As that was happening, the hurricane was getting stronger as it went
along. By the time the hurricane reached Galveston, it was a category
four hurricane and had a projected wind speed of 120 to 140 miles per
hour. The hurricane is predicted to have lasted for several hours
and to have destroyed 3,600 houses. The hurricane also killed
around 8,000 people. After the storm passsed through Galveston,
it went deeper into Texas and curved around. In the end, the
storm went as far a New England before depleting out. The path of the hurricane(projected path)
