The printing press influenced the world through the spread of books and editorial writing (History.com Editors). The press spread throughout the world which allowed a diverse grouping of people to write (History.com Editors). Books became more common because the press worked more efficiently and accurately while printing (Dewar). The press also allowed more people to spread and share their opinions and ideas (History.com Editors). Thomas Jefferson states “Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press,” in a message to James Currie (Jefferson). The press allowed people to speak through their writing with their own opinion (History.com Editors). “The press allowed Martin Luther and John Calvin to write and share their religious beliefs, this caused religion spread throughout the world in new forms” (History.com Editors). In 1605, The first official newspaper was printed and distributed, which was followed by more and more newspapers (History.com Editors). Newspapers spread through Europe as a result of the press’s speed and accuracy (History.com Editors).
