Influence

The AAGPBL influenced the way women were seen in sports and even opened the door for many future female athletes (“AAGPBL League History”). For example before the war some women fought to even be allowed to play baseball in highschool and some people even sued coaches for not letting them play baseball during their highschool years (Macy pg: 99). Although some women fought to play baseball many women just accepted that they weren't allowed to play baseball and started to join other school clubs (“All-American Girls Professional…”). But later on the league ended up not only giving women in the AAGPBL athletic opportunities but it also gave women interested in other sports athletic opportunities as well. After the AAGPBL ended in 1954 many sports that were only available for men before the war opened up women's teams just like the AAGPBL (Little). Some of the members of the AAGPBL got even more “attention when the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum opened a permanent exhibit in 1988” (Little).
