Influence
Studebaker is a big influence on South Bend by making factories and employing half of South Bend (Harris). When the sales went up on Studebaker they built enormous factories located throughout South Bend (Harris). “In the early 1920s, they built enormous buildings in South Bend. They even constructed an enclosed outdoor proving ground for their cars, complete with a concrete track” (Harris). Studebaker has local landmarks over South Bend such as factories and offices of the Studebaker Company ("54 Years After Closing"). The buildings left behind South Bend are named after old buildings such as Erskine Park Golf Course, named for the president of The Studebaker Company ("54 Years After Closing"). There are still Studebaker estates located around South Bend such as Trinity School, the estate of Clement Studebaker ("54 Years After Closing").
