​​​​​​​After being divided into two for decades, East and West Germany were Reunited on October 3, 1990. While many events led up to this world changing event, the Monday Demonstrations in Leipzig, Germany were no stranger to paving the way for change. On September 12, 1990 at the Two-Plus-Four Conference the first treaty that led to reunifification was signed, known as "The Treaty on the Final Settelment with repsect to Germany." The Unification Treaty, signed on August 31, 1990 by the Federal Minister of the Interior, and the GDR State Secretary, was the conclusion after intense deliberations between the GDR and FRG. Although it was not put into action until October 3rd, now known as German Unity Day. This treaty would hope to provide peace, unity, and freedom amongst the nation, after it had been fighting for that for so long.
