THESIS

"A generation which ignores history has no past and no future."
~ Robert Heinlein

“If you think you're right, no matter what the issue, you stand up, and say, look, I am a person. I have a right to control my body, a right to control my life. Nobody else can force me to go through a pregnancy against my will. Nobody.”

~ Bill Baird, 2024, Personal Interview

The 1972 Supreme Court case Eisenstadt v. Baird was a landmark decision that established the right for unmarried couples and women to use contraceptives, which was a turning point in the fight for bodily autonomy, womens’ rights, and the right to privacy. The case resulted in chastity and obscenity laws holding less oppressive power over women, and more importantly, laid the groundwork for the constitutional right to privacy.
