In the time period of the overthrow and annexation (1890s) Queen Liliuokalani was on the throne. The thing is, there were multiple people who had influence on the way Hawaii was ran.
The Queen was born in 1893 and was the first and last queen of Hawaii. She was Queen from 1891-1893. She came in after her brother King Kalakaua. She cared deeply for her people, and her actions reflected it. She was very intelligent and was pretty well known.

Mr. Dole was born in 1844 and was the first president of Hawaii. He was a part of the committee of safety. He and his group were very into business, so making sure that the government didn't impact their businesses was key to him.

During the reign of Queen Liliuokalani, President Cleveland was president of that time. He was born in 1837 and was the 22nd and 24th president of America. He was actually against the annexation and didn't allow it during his presidency.

President William McKinley was born in 1843 and was the 25th president of America. He was also the president during the actual annexation. He liked the idea of annexation because he believed that it would actually help the United States.
