The Harlem Renaissance, which occurred in 1920-1937, had a major impact on African American rights and culture. Alain Locke was the person who proclaimed the movement of the Harlem Renaissance and was the first stepping stone and start of the Harlem Renaissance.The Harlem Renaissance was a time period when creativity was sparked and increased within the African American communities. The event happened in Manhattan, New York the Harlem section of Manhattan was flooded with black people.
"Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry. It merely astonishes me. How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company? It's beyond me."
Once they got their rights and a place in society, they went to that area and were allowed to become artists, performers, poets, etc. Since this happened it allowed African Americans to express themselves creatively without being shunned by others or shut down because of their skin color, and African Americans are now fully accepted into society.
